The Freedictionary.com site offers an encyclopedia article about 20th century which includes science and technology innovations for each decade.  Skip the commercial listings at the top of each page.  Farlex, Inc produces this site. Worldhistory.com is a history site that presents historical records in topical timelines.  Click on a decade and check out the Science, Computer and Technology sections.  There are links to detailed articles for the inventions.

The Great Idea Finder is a commercial site that promotes inventions and it offers researchers great information on inventions and inventors.  This is a chronological list of inventions beginning with the Dixie cups in 1900 and ending with Teletubbies in 1997.  There are links to detailed articles for many of the inventions and inventors The National Academy of Engineering ‘s top twenty engineering achievements of the twentieth century covers electricity, transportation, communications, household appliances and many more.  There are histories, descriptions and a timeline for 20th century inventions such as the Internet, telephone, laser, and air conditioning. Infoplease.com has an alphabetical listing of inventions with the name of the invention, the year it was invented and links to articles on the inventors.

A timeline of inventions beginning with the calendar and ending with  the DVD player from the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation's Kids Page.  There is a brief informational paragraph for each invention on the timeline.  The History Learning Site provides a chronological list of twentieth century inventions.  There are detailed explanations for approximately a dozen of the inventions listed. This is part of the Lemelson-MIT Program on invention.  Use the Browse by Invention  section to find out about twentieth century inventions in  medicine & healthcare, consumer products, transportation, energy & environment, or computing & telecommunications.
