This Dynamic Earth:  The Story of Plate Tectonics from the United States Geological Service, this is an online version of a booklet published in 1996.  It covers a historical perspective, understanding plate motions, hot spots and plate tectonics and people.
A Science Odyssey: You Try It: Plate Tectonics an explanation of plate tectonic theory with links to explanations of divergent, collisional, convergent and transform boundaries.  This is part of an extensive PBS science site.
Earthquakes Overview The Tech Museum of Innovation in San Jose, California offers brief explanantions of plate tectonics and seismic waves as part of their online exhibit on earthquakes.
Earth's Interior This student developed ThinkQuest site explains the three types of plate movement.
Internet Geography Plate Tectonics A British site which provides easy to understand information on structure of the earth, continental drift, plate tectonics and a detailed map and chart of plate boundaries.
Earth Science Explorer from the NASA Classroom of the Future.  The site is set up as a museum.  The Earth Floor provides an explanation of plate tectonics.
The ABC's of Plate Tectonics Donald Blanchard presents a lesson on plate tectonics which includes subduction zones, colliding continents, plumes and earthquakes.
Plate Tectonics from NASA's Observatorium Planet Earth website, comes an explanation of plate tectonics which includes the three types of faults and pangaea.  There is also a quiz and word search at the end of the site.
Plate Tectonics, the Cause of Earthquakes A May 2001 article by John J. Louie, a professor at the MacKay School of Mines at the University of Nevada, which defines plate tectonics and the three main plate tectonic environments: extensional, transform, and compressional.

Earth's Layers a clear explanation of the layers of the earth with diagrams from A Teacher's Guide to the Geology of Hawaii Volcanoes National Park.
Dynamic Earth The School of Earth Sciences at the University of Leeds in England provides easy to understand explanations on plate tectonics, inner earth structure, and mantle convection.
