The following is a list of Internet sites which will be useful for your research on this project.  The  first group of sites are labeled General.  These sites apply to at least two of the subject areas of the project.  No matter which area you are covering with your group, check out the sites in this section.  The remainder of the sites are arranged according to the subject areas assigned.  There are links to these sites at the bottom of the page. GENERAL
Dark Ages Society
The aim of this society is to recreate the time of the Viking invasion and the Anglo-Saxon resistance in the late 9th century.  Links are provided to sites covering both the Saxons and the Vikings.
Dark Age Web by Mark Furnival
Click on people for detailed information on the Goths, Franks, Anglo-Saxons, Vandals, Gepids, Lombards, and Avars among others.  The site also has Dark Age biographies and battles. One of the best sites on the various groups of the Dark Ages.

Provides links for sites on Anglo-Saxons, Celts, and Vikings.

First Europe Tutorial - Chapters
The Department of History at the University of Calgary provides tutorials with text, images, maps, and links on The Germanic Invasions of Western Europe, The Frankish Empire, and Latin and the Vernacular Languages.
Medieval Europe:  AD 400-1400
The History Department of Northpark University provides detailed timelines of  medieval history and the Byzantine Empire.  Links on the timelines provide easy to read  articles with lists of additional books to read on the subject.  Use the articles on the Germanic tribes, Christianity, and Islam.
Internet Medieval Sourcebook
Fordham University provides the Internet Medieval Sourcebook which lists thousands of online texts.  You can use these primary source documents to research Christianity, Goths, Islam, Celts, Franks, and Vikings. This is a challenging site.
The Barbarians
Webmaster, Paris L. Soulier, calls his site the ultimate Barbarian page on the Internet.  You can find history, literature, games and much more.  The section on history covers daily life,  the layout of a village, families, children and gender roles.  There is also a link to the Ring Of The Niebelung on the homepage.
Great Books and Classics:  Epics and Folktales (Anonymous)
You can find translated full texts of The Song of Roland, Gilgamesh, Beowulf, The Nibelunglied, and Tales from the 1001 Nights in text files, zipped text files, and HTML along with lists of print material available from Amazon.com.
Regia Anglorum
This reenactment society attempts to recreate a cross section of English life from AD 950-1066.  The site is full of pages with great photographs of their reenactments as well as information and drawings about various homes and villages of the time period.
A to Z Index of Writing Systems
Simon Ager, the author of this site, provides information about a number of languages and their alphabets including Ancient Latin and Futhark.
The Encyclopedia Mythica
An encyclopedia of mythology, magic, myths, legends, and folklore from all times and all over the world.  There are over 4300 definitions of gods and goddesses, legendary creatures, monsters and supernatural beings.
Antiquity Online civilizations, philosophies and changing religion
An online textbook by Frank Smitha.  Try chapters 23-27 which cover the decline of the Roman Empire, Christianity, and the Barbarians or use the subject index or maps.
Germanic Myths, Legends and Sagas
Use this set of links for research on the Goths, Vikings, Celts and Saxons in the areas of  geography, runestones, gods, and mythology.
