Meet Amazing Americans From The Library of Congress presents America's Story website comes biographies of inventors, performers, politicians who have contributed to American life and culture today.  Currently there are twenty five people featured.
Newsmaker Bios For people who are currently in the news, try this ABC News website.  The biography provided includes photographs and quotes by and about the person.
Notable Women Ancestors Detailed biographies of women adventurers, pioneers, emigrants, religious leaders, and royalty are provided along with links to related websites.
PBS-History PBS.org provides provides detailed profiles of influential men and women throughout history.
PublicFigure.com A commercial site which provides a database of information on over 5,000 public figures and life summaries of another 17,000 prominent people in history.  You will find a signed biography, profile, photos and a list of works for most individuals.  Enter your subject's name in the name window at the top of the homepage.
Role Models On The Web An award winning site from The Light Education, Inc., a nonprofit foundation, provides extensive biographical information on role models to inspire youths and young adults to pattern their lives.  A dozen different biographies are currently offered.
SPECTRUM Biographies SPECTRUM Home and School Magazine is supported by corporate sponsors.  The site provides detailed signed biographies on approximately thirty four noted people in history ranging from musicians to royalty to presidents and authors.
Time 100 The Most Important People of the 20th Century Time.com profiles 100 individuals from the 20th century in the fields of Artists & Entertainers, Heroes & Icons, Builders & Titans, Scientiest & Thinkers, and Leaders & Revolutionaries.
Turn of the Century A commercial website which focuses on the history of the late 1800s and the early 1900s.  There are detailed biographies of Jane Addams, George Washington Carver, Thomas Edison, Theodore Roosevelt and Booker T. Washington.
Women In American History Encyclopaedia Britannica, Inc. provides an extensive website on women in United States history.  The site includes approximately 1,000 biographies, essays, a media gallery and links for information on women's history.  The biographies are Encyclopaedia Britannica articles
Women of  the Century DiscoverySchool.com provides brief biographies of notable women of the twentieth century.  At the end of the biography, links are provided to sites with additional information.The women are listed by categories such as politics & government, arts & media, space & science, sports & exploration, and activists & reformers. 
Women of the Hall This National Women's Hall of Fame site provides brief biographies of the women who have been inducted into the Hall of Fame.  Click the the letter of your subject's last name  or enter the last name in the search window.
Women's History Month This website, sponsored by the Gale Group, a publishing company, presents two to three page biographies of over eighty women who have impacted women's history.  The biographical information comes from the Gale Group's publications and  include listings of awards and sources for further reading including websites and magazine articles.
Women's International Center Provides brief biographical information on those women who have received the Living Legacy Award.  Use this site for women of the 20th century.
