THE PERIODIC TABLE
A Brief History Of The Development Of Periodic Table - this article traces the development of the periodic table from the discovery of phosphorous in 1649 to the rearrangement made by Glenn Seaborg. PeriodicTable.com- a fun site where you can learn about the periodic table and its history.  You can also try out the riddles about the elements and the periodic table.
The Pictorial Periodic Table - you can find out about the individual elements at this site but there are sections on the history of the table. The Development of the Periodic Table - the Royal Society of Chemistry presents an introduction to the periodic table written by Dr. John Emsley.
A Quick Look at the Periodic Table - PeriodicTable.com provides a brief history of the periodic table with links to additional information on Democritus and Glenn Seaborg. Periodic Table History - ChemPros.com presents a very brief history of the the periodic table focusing on the 1800s.

Atomic models, fission, fusion, etc.
ABC's of Nuclear Science - use this site for the information on fission and fusion. Atomic Alchemy:  Nuclear Process - this student developed Thinkquest site explores the scientific work on the atom from the 1890's with the Curies' and Rutherford's work up to 1998 and the testing of nuclear devices by India and Pakistan.  You will find information on fission, fusion, as well as, biographies including Bohr and Curie. Thinkquest sites are temporarily closed. The Atomic Model - a teacher's lesson plan on atomic models which provides a brief outline of the development of atomic models from Democritus to Dalton to Bohr to Wave.  There are links to biographical information and the Nobel Prize Internet Archive.
Atomic Physics 101:  Discover the Universe of the Atom - a student developed ThinkQuest site covers the models of the atom, the history of its discovery and biographies of the discoverers. Thinkquest sites are temporarily closed. Discovery Of Radioactivity:  The Dawn of the Nuclear Age - describes the events and the people bbehind the discovery of the atom including Dalton, Becquerel, Roentgen, and the Curies. Energy Quest - provided by the California Energy Commission to educate kids on environmental issues.  This site provides you with information on fission and fusion (The Energy Story Chapter 7), Benjamin Franklin explaining energy in 1740 and today.
Eric's Weisstein's Treasure Trove of Physics - this internet encyclopedist has created a comprehensive online encyclopedia of physics with over 2,471 entries.  See his Treasure Trove of Scientists in the TJ Biographical Research website. Giant Electroscope - from the Exploratorium Exhibit.   It defines the electroscope and provides information on the phenomena of charge separation, conductivity, electric current, etc. Glossary of Nuclear Terms - definitions of nuclear terms from the United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission.
2Learn:  Atomic Models 'NetSteps - David Gargus, a high school science teacher in Alberta, Canada, has prepared an extensive list of links to information on atoms from the Greeks to Dalton to Thomson. Nuclear Fission - an explanation and detailed timeline of the history of nuclear fission from 1911 to 1979. Nuclear Reaction:  Why Do Americans Fear Nuclear Power? - a website based on the PBS Frontline program on Nuclear Reaction.  The sections on nuclear fission and the glossary should be useful.
