Altapedia online Countries A to Z offers information on a country's geography, climate, religion, history, and much more.  World Maps provide physical and political maps.
infoplease.com Click on your countryand this online almanac will provide information on the country's geography, government, history, population along with a political map and the flag.
The World Factbook The standard for information on countries form the Unites States Central Intelligence Agency.   An excellent political map is provided along with information on the people, economy, history, government, etc. for each country in the world.  You will find many websites use this information or link to it.
Country at a Glance This site, created by the United Nations, provides a brief listing of information on each country including the capital, major languages, area, etc. along with a flag.  It also lists the address and homepage of the country's mission to the United Nations.
Background Notes The State Department of the United States provides background information on countries which includes information on the people, history, government, economy, foreign relations, and political conditions.
Our World - Pine Library Kids' Web Guide The Maurice M. Pine Library provides a wonderful set of links to information on countries, flags and holidays of the world.
Word InfoZone Detailed information  ranging from interesting facts and a gallery of photos to geography, natural environment, architecture, population, languages, food, religion, arts, business and economy, history, public holidays and festivals.  Information is available for forty countries

You are a travel agent and a group of exchange students from Spain have asked for your help in planning their vacation trip.  Some students want to go to the beach and others wanto to go skiing in the mountains for a week.  To help them decide, you are to create a brochure "un folleto" of a popular city or resort area from a Spanish speaking country.
Fodor's Mini Guides The publishers of the Fodor's travel guides provide mini guides to numerous locations around the world.  The listings offer locations in the United States followed by Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean, Central and South America, Europe, Africa and the Middle East,and Asia.  You can find information on hotels, restaurants, attractions, transportation, climate, and much more.
Lonely Planet World Guide The publishers of the Lonely Planet travel guides provide information for travelers at this site.  You can find out about visas, best times to visit, attractions, activities along with the history, culture, environment of the country.  Information is also provided on how to get there and how to travel within the country.
Geographia a travel site which provides basic information on an individual country along with information on the country's cuisine, heritage, and special events.
Travel Channel Click on Live Cams to get a look at various sites around the world such as Sydney,  the Panama Canal, the Kremlin and Big Ben.  You will also find maps in this section of the website.
