African Wildlife Foundation - African Wildlife Excerpts from the Wild Lives Guidebook presented by the Africal Wildlife Foundation, a foundation dedicated to the preservation of wildife and wildlands in Africa.
Animal Fact Sheets The Woodland Park Zoo, in Seattle, Washington, presents fact sheets on a variety of animals from the African Savanna, Tropical Rain Forest, Northern Trail and Tropical Asia.  Each fact sheet  presents classification, range, habitat, physical description, diet, life span, reproduction, life span and fascinating facts.  There is a map of the range and a color photograph of the animal.
Animals From Antelopes to Zebras The Oregon Zoo in Portland, Oregon offers fact sheets on the animals in the zoo.  The fact sheets list the scientific name, physical description, behavior, lifespan, habitat of the animal along with a photograph and a link to the zoo exhibit where this animal is found.
Animal Info - Rare, Threatened and Endangered Mammals Presents detailed information on the physical description, habits, and range of endangered mammals.  There are links to images and a list of references is cited at the end of each article.  Search for an animal alphabetically or by using the search window on the homepage.
Animal Printouts Information on hundreds of animals from the Enchanted Learning Software company.  Click on Animal Printouts on the homepage.  You can then select an animal alphabetically or by group.  A labeled drawing of the animal is given along with anatomy, diet, predator and habit information.
BBC Online-Really Wild Zone-Amazing Animals Photographs along with brief essays which provide information on the location, physical description, and habits of animals from around the world.
BBC Online-Wild Facts Find out about the range, habitat, feeding habits along with images of animals at this BBC site by entering the animal name in the search window. There are video and audio files which require Realplayer.  You will have to use these files in the classroom or at home since the library computers do not have sound capacity.

These sites have been selected for their relevance to the sixth grade science curriculum.  These choices are consistent with the selection policies of the library, and with the print and non-print materials available there.  Each site has been seen by the librarian and has been screened by the school's Internet filtering software.  However, the library, Thomas Jefferson Middle School, and the Board of Education are not responsible for the content of these sites, which is subject to frequent change, nor for the content of any other sites to which these sites may be linked.
